Paddle Coach

Employment Dates: between June 2022 - September 2022

Job Role Summary

As a Prime Paddling Coach,  you will be responsible for the preparation, organisation and delivery of all Prime Paddling sessions in line with operating procedures and method statements.

 

To achieve this you will need to work as part of the team to set up, pack down and proactively provide assistance during the day. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Present a professional appearance and attitude at all times and maintain an excellent standard of customer service. 

  • Be responsible for the preparation, organisation, delivery and the running of activities for all Paddle School sessions. 

  • Work as part of the team to set up,  pack down and proactively provide assistance to all Paddle School participants during the day. 

  • Be flexible in your role and willing to assist in all other duties as requested by the Centre Manager. 

  • Carry out daily equipment checks and defects logging of Paddle School equipment/resources.

  • Be responsible for ensuring that the paddle school and its staff are operating within all of Prime Paddling Policies, Risk Assessments and Operating Procedures. 

  • Be responsible for the safety of all staff and young people that are associated with The Paddle School.

  • Deal with complaints and concerns raised by parents and careers of the young people attending the paddle school.

  • Clearly and professionally communicate any aspect of the paddle school

  • Ensure that the following are up to date and uploaded to both Prime Paddling’s Storage Drive and British Canoeing’s Membership Portal; Safeguarding, First Aid (minimum 6 hours), in date CPD credits and British Canoeing Membership. 

  • Actively follow, challenge and report malpractice and concerns of safeguarding to the centre manager.

You Must

  • Have the right to work in the UK

  • Hold or be willing to obtain a valid DBS

Desirable Skills/Qualifications

Required Skills/Qualifications

  • Adaptable and willing to change plans where needed

  • Additional adventurous activity qualifications ie GB Archery Instructor

  • Clear understanding and knowledge of risk management procedures

  • Knowledge and understanding of British Canoeing policies

  • Ability to read and characterise water/weather accurately.

  • Be able to provide equal opportunity to all those under their duty of care. 

  • >18 years old

  • Hold British Canoeing Sheltered Water Coach / Level 2 Coach

  • Maintain British Canoeing On the Water Membership

  • First Aid Trained (minimum of 8 hours)

  • Safeguarding trained (willing to attend training

  • Enthusiastic and willing to work alongside a close team

  • Agree to hold an enhanced DBS 

Possible In House Training 

  • Leadership and Management Training and Support

  • Manual Handling and Risk Management Training

  • Coaching Development

  • Possible Additional Coaching Courses for the right candidate
